I’ve been seriously involved with digital photography (as a hobby of course : ) since i bought the Nikon D50, and since then I’ve done some experiments with Digital photography. By far, my most interest is Infrared photography, it’s like seeing a different world… it opens a window on a parallel world different to the one we usually see..
There are several ways to do IR photography, some people use a special converted IR camera, and other use filters, well I preferred the second way, It’s cheaper :). I used Infrared filter from Cokin, P007, or James bond filter, that’s what people are used to called this filter.
Taking an IR photo needs a special setup in the camera, you have to do some custom white balance for the camera, with IR filter attached, point the camera to a white paper or green grass and set the WB… and you also have to do some post production with Photoshop.. there are several tutorials on the net how to do these things.
For sure, to take a perfect IR photo, you need a lot of practice, i mean a lot

It’s been more than 2 months since my last post :), and again I’m in the middle of another busy semester. Me and my group at the University, around 8 people, are struggling to finish our master project this semester and the deadline is in mid of February, and that’s include the working prototype and of course…. the report…
Meanwhile, another thing that keep me very busy is that finally I start working in a real German’s company, and the job is the same job that I’ve been working for the past 3 years before I went to Germany… ^_^ and for sure much2 better than working in a factory or restaurant and the good thing is, they allow me to speak english rather than deutsch, cause ich spreche kein gut deutsch Read the rest of this entry »
It’s time to go to the next level of Digital Photography, but I still keep my ‘little’ gear ( canon A80), it’s still a great camera but since my passion in photography keep growing and growing, I need more powerfull camera to fullfill my passion. Nikon D50 is the perfect solution for prosumer DSLR, it’s not so expensive, but it’s has a very great feature. Well in DSLR camera, the camera is not so important, I mean it’s important of course, but the most important is the lens :). The camera came with the standard kit lens (Sigma 18-50mm), but I think I need a lens that suit for all occasion, for macro, landscape, telezoom.. and the sigma 18-200mm is the best choice by far, but since the price is almost as a new camera ;p so maybe I have to save my money to get that lens….

Finally.. after a long and busy semester, I got some spare time to upgrade my blog, and install anti spam web service from Akismet … yup I hope I can write something to this blog soon, or at least post some pictures

Recently I’m courious about how exactly Youtube.com works. Youtube is like a video version of “Flickr”, their tag line is ‘Broadcast yourself’. You can upload and share your video for free.
The interesting part is youtube uses Flash video (FLV) to delivery a video in their service, the reason maybe to reduce file size and also allows most platforms and browsers to easily view the content. You can upload almost any video file (mov, mpeg, wmv, asf, avi ) to their server, and they automatically convert it into FLV, yeah… I did a little research on this one and surfing around and found that they use Server Side Encoding Software called On2 Flix Engine SDK.
